Fruit Buyer’s Report | Fruitful Office Spring 2017
Dear All,
Spring is upon us and wonderful fruit varieties are coming into season:
- Berries
They are a staff favourite and synonymous with Spring. They contain powerful health benefits:
- Raspberries: possess almost 50% more antioxidants than strawberries
- Blueberries: are among the most nutrient dense berries. A serving of approx. 148 grams contains fibre, Vitamin C (24% of the RDA), Vitamin K (36% of the RDA), and Manganese (25% of the RDA)
- Strawberries: high in Vitamin A and C, strawberries improve cell reproduction, helping against skin dryness. They are beneficial to the immune system and promoting all-round health. We tend to include them only when the UK strawberry season is in full swing
- Plums
They are rich in antioxidants. Over 2,000 varieties of plums exist
- Peaches and nectarines
They are an excellent natural replenishing source of mineral salts and especially of potassium, which is particularly useful in the Summer when higher temperatures cause us to sweat
