Planting Fruit Trees campaign update: July to September 2015
Expanding the tree project north
- Muzuzu (population 200,000) is a very deforested area with a large demand for firewood and a real shortage of trees
- We are working with the local government forestry staff who have been very helpful with advice on the best trees to grow for the area and introducing us to communities and farmers (strong initial interest)
- In this area the communities and farmers are targeted to raise a total of 300,000 trees this year and the trees will be planted out in the coming months when the rainy season starts
