Thirteen families, one forest
Thirteen might be unlucky for some, but in Chiunda Village it is the perfect number: 13 families have joined the project this year.
With the nearest forest two hours away, they started their own community forest back in 2013. Now they are raising 10,000 seedlings: 3,000 to expand it and the rest for family woodlots.
Your support enables Ripple Africa to provide seeds, planting tubes, training and monitoring as the seedlings grow in tree nurseries, ready for planting out when the rains arrive in December.
“Forests are depleting here in Malawi, so tree planting is important,” says Group Chairman Clement.
